VolkerMarine Services is a specialist service provider to the civil engineering and maritime sectors. Established in 1934, we offer clients around the globe a range of construction and marine plant and equipment for hire and sale. Owning the largest for hire stock of Linkfloteᵀᴹ and Uniflote modular pontoons (sectional barges) in the UK, our versatile, road transportable and easily handled modular floatation pontoons give an effective and economical solution to meet the most varied of needs. VolkerMarine Services also offers an extensive range of construction plant and equipment.

  • We began manufacturing pontoons in 2000, and export them around the globe, whilst supplying Linkflote pontoons across the UK, and as far afield as The Falkland Islands, Holland, Africa, Australasia and Europe.
  • With an expert in-house design team, we are able to offer bespoke solutions to meet your needs and requirements.
  • We have produced a tried and trusted pontoon and transport system, originally developed for military use, which is used for many permanent and temporary floating access and transport solutions.
  • We can design and project manage your marine operation using our specialist resources, including temporary and permanent works, we can provide a full mobilisation and demobilisation service and experienced operators for our equipment. 
  • We have stocks of new standard units for sale and can produce bespoke units to suit your individual requirements.

Meet the team

  • Rob Howarth

    Operations Director

    With over 20 years of construction experience, Rob was appointed as Operations Director of VolkerMarine Services in 2023. Rob is also responsible for our specialist piling business, VolkerGround Engineering.

  • Chris Shorrock

    Marine Technical Manager

    Chris joined VolkerMarine Services as marine technical manager in 2019. With over 30 years' experience working in corporate, SME and Ministry of Defence environments and serving as a chartered naval architect; Chris joined the business after a four-year period working in ship building in Canada.

  • Matthew Kelly

    Commercial Manager

    Matthew has managed the commercial aspects of VolkerStevin projects for the past 20 years, across a variety of projects and frameworks using various forms of contract, ranging in value up to £25 million.

  • Tony Price

    Marine Delivery Manager

    Tony returned to VolkerMarine Services in 2021, having previously worked for the business as a fabrication production manager. Within his new role as marine delivery manager, Tony oversees and manages the production of new build pontoons and the delivery of projects.
